A socio-political group under the aegis “North Central Women Forum”, NCWF, converged in Kaduna, the capital city of Kaduna State Tuesday, February 22, and resolved to work and to ensure that Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu State Governor, is elected the president of Nigeria come 2023.
According to the group, a president of Igbo extraction is long overdue and their decision to back Governor Ugwuanyi is because of the manner he has entrenched peace and good governance in Enugu State as well as assisted women and the downtrodden to grow their businesses and respective life pursuits.
The Coordinator of the group, Christianah Solomon Azege, and the Secretary, Hajiya Amina Kure, in a communiqué emphasized that it is only Governor Ugwuanyi who came on board and remembered the welfare of the women, traders and the downtrodden.
They explained that one of the reasons for endorsing Governor Ugwuanyi for the presidency in 2023 is because of what they described as Ugwuanyi’s far-reaching traders empowerment scheme launched in 2017 to assist genuine women traders and various businesses irrespective of state of origin, religion or ethnicity
The forum with members drawn from Nasarawa State; Plateau State; Niger State; Kogi State; Benue State; Kwara State and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, said they searched through all states in Nigeria and discovered that Governor Ugwuanyi, compared to other governors and political leaders in the country, has carved a niche for himself as a true democrat with a rare approach to governance, peace and development of all citizens and residents, especially northerners in Enugu State.
The Coordinator of the group further disclosed that they are ready to move to the other geo-political zones to canvass support for Igbo presidency and Governor Ugwuanyi and expressed the belief that with God on their side, victory is assured.
