About three groups were believed to have raised 100m naira each for the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, to purchase the nomination and expression of interest forms to contest the 2023 Presidency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

According to reports, the groups include The Rice Farmers Association, Emefiele Support Group and Friends of Godwin.

A source in the CBN close to him said although Emefiele was aware that some groups were purchasing forms for him, he had yet to accept anyone.

“Three groups are buying forms for him; Rice Farmers are buying, Emefiele Support Group is buying, Friends of Godwin are buying. But he has not accepted any of the forms yet. Buying forms doesn’t mean he’s running for the Presidency”, the source said.

Meanwhile, Sources who confirmed the latest development to journalists said the CBN Governor on Friday morning picked the 100 million naira forms from the party’s organizing secretary at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja.

Prior to purchasing the forms, his posters were seen in major cities, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

When contacted on Friday by Newsmen for a reaction, a leader of the Emefiele Mobilisation Team, Attah Jacob, in a telephone chat said, “Glory to God.”

Emefiele, 60 was appointed CBN governor in 2014 and has since remained at the apex bank.
