The candidate of the Accord Party in Imo East Senatorial District, Chief Mike Nwachukwu has blamed the present crop of leaders in the South East for the political misfortunes being suffered by the people of the region.

In a statement obtained by our correspondent, Chief Nwachukwu insisted that the Igbos made no adequate preparation for the presidency of the country come 2023.
He regretted that the leaders of the region could not even take a stand like the former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ogbonnaya Onu and former President of the Senate, Ken Nnamani took at the national convention ground of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
While commending the duo though they were among aspirants who waited for miraculous endorsement by power brokers, he regretted that the Igbo presidential aspirants could not borrow a leaf from their South West counterparts by coalescing behind one of their own.
He lashed out at Igbo leaders who rallied support for the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan for their selfish aggrandizement, stressing that soon, the same leaders would begin to curry the favour of Asiwaju Tinubu.

Nwachukwu, who holds the chieftaincy title of Mpidike of Egbelu Obube submitted that the concerned Igbo leaders would not go back home and reflect on what happened and where they got their acts wrong in order to make amend in future.
The former banker-turned politician noted that the same Igbo leaders would not even work with Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) to engineer a protest vote even if to tell Nigerians that the Igbos are not happy with the marginalization of the South East.
He, however, expressed happiness that the current crop of leaders in the South East region would soon exit the scene and from their ashes will arise new leaders who will champion the collective interest of the people.
The Senatorial candidate equally blamed the delegates especially from Anambra, Imo and Enugu states that attended the APC national convention, stressing that they should be queried why they voted for aspirants from outside Igbo land.
