A Frontline Abia Governorship Aspirant for the 2023 general elections, Chief Ncheta Omerekpe (Ofo Ndi Igbo), has met with delegates and stakeholders of PDP in Ikwuano, Umuahia South Local Government Areas presenting his vision and mission for Abia state.
In an interface with the delegates, as well as stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, Omerekpe reiterated his commitment to change the narrative of Abia in terms of development.
According to him, he would attract meaningful development to the state that would have positive effects on the people and also concentrate on road infrastructure, education,health care system, economy and others.
In Ikwuano LGA, Omerekpe assured the delegates and stakeholders of bringing back the African Development Bank to commence the project earlier planned for Ikwuano, adding that he would make sure that the Ikwuano-Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene road which has defiled all interventions be constructed with dual carriage.
Listing out the projects he has done in Abia in the past five years, the 2023 Governorship aspirant said he has distributed over 400 motorcycles as empowerment, distributed over 15,000 bags of rice during the COVID-19 pandemic, conducted medical outreaches for over 150,000 Abians, constructed 17 km out of the 32 km Umuakwu-Azuhi-Oloko road, built six classroom blocks in six schools, built skill acquisition centre, built modern health centre, dug solar boreholes in all the communities around Umuakwu Nsulu, distributed drugs and equipments to the whole health centres built across the state,among other people’s oriented projects.
He further challenged other Abia governorship Aspirants to come up with evidences of what they have done for the state, stressing that if any of them has done one quarter of what he (Omerekpe) has done, then, he would quit his governorship ambition.
According to him, he has spent over N6b in the development of Abia in the past five years.
Omerekpe, however, urged the delegates to do what is right but voting in leaders that are committed to the progress of Abia and not a figure head who would be used to further syphone the resources of Abia, stating his readiness and commitment to serve Abia.
Responding on behalf of other delegates in Ikwuano LGA, the Ikwuano PDP Chairman, Hon Obioma Igwe and Chief Christmas Nkume, commended the efforts of Chief Omerekpe, urging him not to relent, as they are ready to support responsive government in Abia.
In Umuahia South LGA, Dr Max Ndukwe Adindu who spoke on behalf of Umuahia South Stakeholders, described Chief Ncheta Omerekpe as a democrat, praying God to bring into perfection the aspiration of the philanthropist, saying that come 2023, God would give Abia a governor after his heart.
