Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has hinted his possible presidential ambition come the next presidential election in 2023.
The former Governor of Abia State and current chief whip of the house has said it will be unfair for him or anyone to declare their interest in the presidential bid at this very sensitive time in the country.
Orji Uzo Kalu in his resolve says he believes that any intending presidential candidate who is passionate about the nation should wait for President Buhari to exhaust at least half of his tenure before unveiling their interest in the number seat of the nation.
Kalu made these revelations while briefing pressmen after he paid a courtesy visit to Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, former Generals Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar their homes respectively in Mina, Niger State on Thursday, February 25, 2021.
Kalu however said he will finally declare his decision to run for presidency or not by the end of the year or beginning of 2022.
According to him:
It will be very, very unfair to say anything on that and mind you, I am not in Niger state for that. Ask me this question in December 2021 or January 2022, I might answer you. But, now, let us allow President Buhari to get to half of his second term.
The moment you say Uzor Kalu will run, Jack will run, Peter will run, Bamisaye will run, it will pose a problem. So, the issue is allow the man to get halfway his tenure.
Speaking on the presidency zoning formula, he said the All Progressive Congress would in its bid to propel peace and unity, they would respect the zoning formula.
While reacting to the recent attack situation in Orlu in Imo State, the former Governor of Imo state had this to say:
Attacks are happening everywhere. Young people are restive, when such happens we need to nip it in the bud by collectively working together for peace to reign.
Recall that there has been some political agitations hitting on which tribe or region is eligible to produce the next president come 2023, although some quarters have resolved to endorse the south east for the job, some other quarters have maintained that the south west seems fit to take on the task this time.
