A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf has called on Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike to join the league of contenders who wish to succeed President Buhari come 2023.

The call for Wike to run for the office of president came as a confirmation that the Peoples Democratic Party may be planning to field an incumbent governor in the south to bear the party’s flag in the next presidential elections.
Yusuf who is a federal lawmaker representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency of Kogi State and also elected under the platform of the PDP made these revelations in a statement in Abuja on Monday.
Yusuf while expressing confidence in the Wike-led administration in Rivers State said the governor, despite the countless challenges faced by the state, had a unique way of ensuring that the economy in Rivers State was still titling towards the right direction.
He added that Wike’s outstanding achievements in governance has earned a good recommendation to take up a higher responsibility in the country.
The statement read: “Wike has positively impacted all sectors of the state’s economy; revolutionizing the health, agricultural and education sectors.
“Wike is the man who will return PDP to power at the centre again.”
The new endorsement will not be drawn far from the ongoing speculations that both the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party may be shopping for an eligible presidential candidate from the southern part of Nigeria, as the notion making the rounds indicate that by the zoning formula, it is time for the south to produce the next president.
While both parties have not officially declared their resolution to zone the presidency to the south, the body language of leaders in both the APC and the PDP have spelt it out.
It will be recalled that Nigerdeltaconnect.com earlier reported that a prominent APC Senator, Ali Ndume had also endorsed the zoning of the presidency to the south, adding that projecting the next president from the north come 2023 will be tantamount to seeking a third term for President Muhammadu Buhari.

Wike’s endorsement would be a new situation added to the long list of speculated candidates for the presidency, including his foremost godfather and mentor, former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
