A Federal Commissioner in the Police Service Commission, PSC, Austin Braimoh, has urged the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, to forgo his presidential ambition and rather support a south east presidential candidate.
According to him, there is homogeneity in the northern part of the country and that explains why a particular section can produce the president in succession and there would not be acrimony, but this situation is lacking in the southern part of the country.
He said those persons arguing that late President Yar ‘Adua is from the same North West with the incumbent President Buhari should understand that the South has clear cultural boundaries unlike the North, which does not have the same cultural divide like the South.
Going down memory lane, Braimoh noted that in 1988, the major political actors in the country agreed to compensate the south west with the presidency due to the annulment of the June 12 presidential elections and the death of the acclaimed winner, Chief MKO Abiola.

He disclosed that it was further agreed that the presidency would be rotated between the north and the south. The South West has produced President Olusegun Obasanjo, while the South-South produced President Goodluck Jonathan and as such the South East should be given the slot this time.
Braimoh explained that any attempt to deny the South East the opportunity to produce the next president will be unfair and amounts to injustice. He therefore, urged major Nigerian political parties to zone the presidency to the South East region for equity and unity of the country.
He also expressed optimism that the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chieftain, Bola Tinubu, whom he described as a leader with a big heart, would come out at the appropriate time to say he is throwing his support for a candidate of south east extraction.
He reiterated his plea to Bola Tinubu and stressed that those politicians who are canvassing that zoning should be jettisoned are trying to perpetuate injustice and our country cannot have true peace without justice.
