* Osaka wins her fourth Grand Slam in four years
Japan’s Naomi Osaka on Saturday strolled to victory against Jennifer Brady in straight sets in the Australian Open final to win her fourth Grand Slam title.
Osaka narrowly won the first set and shattered the American twice in the second to win 6-4, 6-3 in 77 minutes in front of thousands of fans at the Rod Laver Arena.
The Punch reports that the world number three, Osaka also preserved her 100 per cent record in Grand Slam finals after winning the 2018 and 2020 US Opens and the 2019 title in Melbourne.
The 23-year-old has now risen to number two in the latest ranking as she becomes the first woman since Monica Seles to win her first four major finals in four straight years.
The Japanese, who is also the highest paid female athlete in the world, saved two match points in the fourth round against Garbine Muguruza before going on to lift the trophy.
En route to the final, Osaka defeated her idol, Serena Williams, in straight sets in the semi-finals. She has not lost a match in more than a year.
