Bayelsans have taken to social media to drum support for Kingdom Kroseide, a Bayelsan and one of the contestants in the ongoing season 6 of the Nigeria Idol music show.
Sixty eight contestants were selected for the theatre week, but after series of tests and performances only 11 scaled through, including Kroseide who hails from Ara-Ama Community in Angalabiri federated communities of Sagbama Local Government Area.
Last Sunday was the first live performances of the season, and the contestants had the task of impressing the judges, Seyi Shay, Obi Asika and DJ Sose as well as the viewing fans at home.
The final performance of the night had Kroseide performing Lebo M’s “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” (from the movie Lion King), a rendition which thrilled the judges and ultimately earned him a spot for next Sunday’s showdown with ten others.
Some Bayelsans on Facebook called for massive votes for Kroseide, saying; “he’s got the voice and charisma, all that is left is your vote”, one of them said.
Sunny Frank said: “It is my humble plea that at this point in time we immediately activate the Angalabiri, Sagbama, Bayelsa and ijaw spirit of Unity and Progress to unanimously vote for our own Kingdom Kroseide to win the Nigerian Idol contest, as he is one of the most talented contestants in the house.
“As the saying goes, blood is thicker than water. We did it for Timi Dakolo(West Africa Idol), we did it for Nengi (Big Brother Nigeria), and we can also do it for Kingdom Kroseide.
The Nigerian Idol show has produced prominent singers like Timi Dakolo, (another Bayelsan), Omawunmi, and gospel diva, Mercy Chinwo, among others.
