Oladapo Akinola, a 39-year-old Ogun man, has been detained on Monday, September 20 by the Ogun State Police Command for raping his 5-year-old stepdaughter.

The suspect was detained after the victim’s mother reported him to Adigbe divisional headquarters that while bathing her daughter, she discovered blood in her private parts, and upon questioning the girl, she was told that her husband, who happened to be the man’s stepdaughter, had unlawfully had carnal knowledge of her.

Following the report, SP Fatoberu Oyekanmi of the Dpo Adigbe division dispatched his detectives to the scene, where the suspect was quickly arrested.
During questioning, the suspect, who lives on Adewale Drive in Shokori Abeokuta, confessed to the crime with no tangible reasons.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police command’s spokesperson, confirmed the incident, saying the victim had been taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The commissioner of police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the suspect’s immediate transfer to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department’s anti-human trafficking and child labor section for further investigation and diligent prosecution, according to the spokesperson, he encouraged parents, particularly mothers, to keep an eye on their female children at all times in order to safeguard them from being sexually harassed by those irresponsible individuals.
