An old member of a notorious Iceland cult has reportedly been killed by a jealous unit leader due to rivalry over a girlfriend in Bayelsa State.
According to reports, the Unit leader who is identified as Uzorma has been in a rivalry with the victim over a lady.
Uzorma who is an indigene of Igbo and Epie shot the 28 years old cult member at a close range along the Azikoro town area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Subsequently, Uzorma was reported to have engaged in a heated argument with the yet-to-be identified girl on Thursday evening where he was insisting she follows him to pass the night, instead, she abruptly declined and openly declared her feelings for the deceased which ignited a confrontation between the two cult members.
Sources gathered from an eye witness that about 8pm on Thursday, the deceased with the support of four other members resisted attempt by the unit leader to ‘’oppress’’ the deceased. They were allowed to fight without a victor.
Besides the confrontation, about 5am the next morning of Friday, Uzorma stormed the house of the deceased and shot him dead.
While interrogated, the suspect revealed that he murdered the deceased due to arising questions spreading in the city amongst members and unit leaders of cult groups.
Reports says they were both identified by residents of the area as notorious cultists and are allegedly involved in petty robbery and dealing in illicit drugs along Azikoro town road and Ekeki community of the state capital.
Moreover, Uzorma, the alleged killer is reported to be on the wanted list of the State Command. It was gathered that he was involved in a failed attempt to kill a police personnel who arrested him some years back after he was brought out by his political friends. He is shielded by powerful politicians from Yenagoa Local Government Council.
