A former transition committee chairman of Umuahia North Local Government Area, Deacon Iyke Nwoke, has picked his Expression of Interest/Nomination form, to represent the people of Umuahia Central State Constituency.
In an interview with journalists shortly after he picked his form, Dcn Nwoke, stated that he is coming to consolidate on the developmental strides of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji and as well pursue the unity of the constituency.
According to him, he has waited for 12 years to represent his people and each time he declares interest to run, he would be asked to wait.
“It is time to go and represent my people. I have waited for too long. I have been patient with the party, I have respected the structure. It is time to represent my people”, he restated.
Reeling out the programs he has lined up for his constituents, Deacon Nwoke maintained that he would first of all unite Umuahia Urban Constituency as the peace of the area is paramount to him.
He added that he would take care of the less privileged, consolidate on what the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji, has done, stressing that the Speaker is leaving a big shoe behind but he would endeavour to continue in the developmental strides of the Speaker.
Deacon Nwoke stated that he would resolve the protracted issue of indigenes and non indigenes in the constituency and he would make adequate provisions for the youth.
He added that farmers in Ibeku would be encouraged to go into cooperative program, while he would make effort for rural roads to be constructed so that farmers can evacuate their farm produces to the market.
“Scholarship programs will be awarded to students. We will discourage tactful life and engage the youths in a meaningful development”.
Nwoke said he would formulate policies that will affect the lives of his people positively, while he seek to reconcile and promote peace in the area.
He further revealed that God has structured this time for him, enjoining the people of his constituency to give him massive support, promising to give the dividend of democracy.
Also, the Umuahia Urban aspirant, disclosed that it is the turn of Ward 2 to produce the next Umuahia Urban lawmaker, adding that the current speaker is from ward 1, therefore, ward 2 should be given a chance.
He further reminded those clamouring for a power shift to Afaraukwu Ibeku, to know that the current speaker of the House of Assembly is from Afaranta, therefore, it would be equitable if the seat goes to ward 2.
“You don’t do things in a clannish manner. It will be fair if ward 2 produce the next House of Assembly member”, he said.
