Abia Deputy Gov Tasks Stakeholders On Need To Beef Up IGR

Abia State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has stressed the need for all stakeholders in the economic sector to think outside the box and design how to harness all the mineral deposits across the state as a way of shoring up and improving on the state’s internally generated revenue.

Sir Oko Chukwu who made this known during the Abia State Ease Of Doing Business Council Meeting held at Government House, Umuahia, encouraged the key players to bring in investors to invest in the State which is in line with discussions arrived at the Federal Executive and Governor’s Forum Meetings.

He assured that the present administration will do all in its power to ensure that the ease of doing business in the state yields the desired result of attracting investors to the state.

Oko Chukwu also mandated every Ministry and MDA to upload their activities to the Abia State Website to enable the state benefit from the Federal Government/World Bank Funds to enhance the ease of doing business across the state.

The Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Council named the ministries of Justice, Finance, Lands and Survey, Works, Transport, Board of Internal Revenue, Education For Employment, SME& New Business Development, Accountant General Office, PPP, Trade and Investment and other revenue yielding ministries and agencies as very critical in this regard.

In his presentation, the state Focal Person, Chinenye Nwogu, said the Federal government is desirous of going forward in improving business and creating an enabling environment for investors and thanked the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s led administration for ensuring that Abia is among the five states that scored high in ease of doing business across the country.

Nwogu disclosed that each state is expected to develop a framework to ensure MDAs responsible for each reform area develop, publicize and implement reforms to help the states meet the requirements for receiving funds supporting its reform implementation.
