The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, has described the sudden death of the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, as not only a deep shock, but a painful and collosal loss to the state.
Speaking when he paid a condolence visit to the wife of the deceased, and family members at his Umuahia residence, Sir Oko Chukwu said the deceased was a man that has impacted so many lives.
He said the demise of their friend and mentor is a stack reality and critical case of the helplessness of man when death comes calling and the need for all to have a sober reflection on the essence of life.
The Deputy Governor who could not control his emotions described the death of Chief Ukpai as a sad experience and worst news he has ever received and urged the bereaved family to take heart as death is a mystery beyond mortals.
He pointed out that by his demise, the immediate family, Asaga Community, people of Ohafia LGA and Abians at large have lost a political icon and prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Responding on behalf of the family, a one time Commissioner in the Local Government Commission, The Rev Onyema Agbai, said they are yet to come to terms with the reality of his death.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied on the visit by top Govt Officials and other notable personalities.
The Late Deputy Chief Of Staff was rushed to an undisclosed hospital few days ago, after returning from Aba, where he was actively involved in the just concluded Aba North and Aba South Federal Constituency Bye Election but later gave up the ghost.
