Accident Claims One, Injures Three in Akwa Ibom

One person has been reported dead while three others fatally injured in an auto crash along Abak old road by University of Uyo Annex, Ediene Akwa Ibom State.

Accident

The accident which occured early hours of Monday involved a truck, a car and a motorcycle.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Akwa Ibom sector Commander, Matthew Olonisaye and made available to journalists in Uyo, the state capital.

The statement noted that the accident was as a result of loss of control by the drivers.

The statement reads in part “Today being the 4th of July 2022, at about 0720hrs, a crash occurred along Abak old road by Uniuyo annex Ediene.

“When FRSC rescue team arrived the crash scene having received a report of the incident, it was discovered that the fatal crash resulted from loss of control and involved a Truck, Car and motorcycle with 4 people, out of which one was feared dead, the injured were taken to hospital while others came out unhurt.

“Meanwhile, operatives have been deployed to control and redirect traffic while obstructions are being cleared to enable free-flow of traffic for ease of doing business”.

While commiserating with the family of the deceased, the sector commander further warned that the command would not spare any driver found contravening the rules and regulations guiding the usage of the roads

“Road users must drive carefully on the road. Vehicle owners should always ensure maintenance of their vehicles. The state command will not spare any driver found disobeying the rules and regulations guiding the usage of the roads

“We commiserate with the family of the dead person. May God grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable lost. We plead with members of the public to ensure safety on our roads”.
