One person was killed and three others badly injured as explosion rocked a house around the Ngwa road Axis of Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State.
The explosion which was said to have been caused by the use of adulterated kerosene, razed down the building at No. 2 Zion Street, off Ngwa Road, Aba, with properties worth millions of naira destroyed.
The explosion burnt to death a yet to be identified lady, while the mother of the lady and two others are now receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital after sustaining various degrees of injuries.
A family friend to the victims said the incident happened when the mother of the deceased lady in a bid to light up her lantern, got herself burnt, and the fire spread to other parts of their house.
When the member representing Aba North and South Federal constituency in the House Of Representatives, Chimaobi Ebisike, visited the area, he expressed shock over the level of damage caused by the explosion.
The lawmaker also visited the hospital where the victims were receiving treatment and made a donation of N1 million to assist them.
Ebisike revealed that he would partner with the relevant authorities to ensure adulterated kerosene is not distributed in Aba North and South of Abia State, so as to prevent such fire outbreaks in the future.
