The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi’s covid-19 test result came out negative.
Recall that Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi has withdrawn from Nigeria’s final 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho after his Covid-19 test came out positive, officials told AFP on Monday, March 29, 2021.
Everton forward, Iwobi tested positive before the game on Saturday which ended 1-0 in favour of the Super Eagle.
There was an earlier report that officials of the Super Eagles had doubted Iwobi’s COVID-19 positive test result that forced the Everton man to miss Nigeria’s African Cup of Nations qualifier match with Benin Republic last Saturday.
In the lineup, he was replaced by Galatasaray’s Henry Onyekuru and the game ended 1-0 in favour of the Eagles.
The test result is the reason why the 24-year-old, who went into isolation immediately, may not be in the team’s match against Lesotho which will be played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.
