The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN has expresses his heartfelt condolences to the wife, children, family and the University community as well as the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) over the loss of Olubunmi Afuye.
The Governor said he considers it as a personal loss.
Afuye was one of three people killed on Thursday after Armed robbers attacked a new generation Bank in Ilara-mokin, in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state.
According to preliminary reports, the Journalist known as Olubunmi Afuye, until his demise was the public relations officer of a private university in the state.
Also, Afuye is an on-air personnel with the Ondo state-owned Orange 94.5 FM, Akure.
Akeredolu’s message was contained in a press statement made available to Niger Delta Connect by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State, Richard Olabode.
According to the statement, “Mr Governor is touched by this dastardly act that has cost the Journalism profession a bright and upcoming star.
“He was particularly close to us; we all admired his candour and carriage, especially his brilliant delivery at functions he compered that we had reasons to grace. His demise is not just painful. It is very pathetic and unbearable”, the Governor says.

Meanwhile, a specific directive has been given by the Governor that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are apprehended and brought to book in the shortest possible time.
Earlier, while confirming the incident, the state Police command’s Public Relations Officer, Tee-Leo Ikoro said the robbers also killed a policeman and a motorcyclist.
Eyewitness who don’t want his named mentioned explained that the armed robbers raided the bank for several minutes and carted away with an undisclosed amount of money.
