Ahead of the local government congress of the All progressives Congress scheduled for July this year, in Ondo State, the leadership of the party in Akure North Local Government Area of the state in a meeting has resolved to uphold the decision reached during the party stakeholders meeting on consensus.
The meeting was to deliberate and intimate party leaders, stakeholders and members on the party that will be used to elect the executives of the party into positions during the ward and local government congress scheduled for July this year.
It would be recalled that a meeting was called by the state Chairman of the party, Engr. Ade Adetimehin and attended by the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Tayo Alasoadura and other Chieftains of the party.
At the meeting, it was unanimously agreed by party stalwarts at the meeting last weekend that consensus is better used as it would nip in the bud crisis and disunity. All the leaders present agreed that consensus is perhaps the best option that will be used to elect party executives into positions.
The Caretaker Chairman of the party in Akure North, Joshua Eleti told the gathering the outcome of meeting that was called by the governor, with top echelon of the party in attendance.
“We have come to intimate members on the modality agreed upon at the stakeholders meeting of the party in Ondo State to be used by the party in the state.
“The governor, who also double as the leader of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State emphasized “Forty years age limit for party youth leaders and Twenty five percent for women folks into executive positions across board.”
Eleti further informed members of the party, particularly the Ward Chairmen and leaders to go back to their various wards and spread the executive positions into all the units through consensus.
He said, “Party members can identify notable leaders in their areas. Those party leaders will sit down and through consensus pick the ward executives without interference from leaders of other wards.”
Leaders who spoke at the meeting speakers includes RT. Hon Kenneth Olawale (former speaker Ondo State House of Assembly), Hon Akindele Adeniyi, a two term member of Ondo State House of Assembly representing Akure North Local Government, Honourable Saka Yusuf- Ogunleye, immediate past Commissioner for Works & Infrastructure, Chief Dapo Filani, former Chairman Ondo State Water Corporation & chairman Adult & Non Adult Education, Honourable Ayo Fadipe.
Also, former council chairman in the LGA, Honourable Simbo Akinola Obey, the immediate Council chairman Honourable Rotimi Adeleye, and a former House of Assembly candidate of the party, Barr. Olu Akinola, the incumbent Chairman of the Council, Surv. Bankole Ogbesetore were present.
They all resolved to abide by every decisions taken at the stakeholders meeting
All ward chairmen, Councillors, Secretary of the local government and other party stalwarts were present during the meeting.
