Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel has ordered the closure of Ikot Oku Ikono Flyover in Uyo Local Government Area of the state.
The closure which would elapse for three days would commence on today Wednesday, July 14, 2021 and was aimed at giving the contractor access to tidy up the site for inauguration on Friday July, 16, 2021.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong and obtained by our correspondent in Uyo on Tuesday evening.
The governor in the statement urged motorists and members of the public to use alternative routes.
The statement added that security personnel have been drafted to the area to ensure the Enforcement of the order.
The statement reads in part, “Take note that the Ikot Oku Ikono flyover and it’s environs will be closed to human and vehicular traffic from 6am Wednesday, July 14, 2021 till 3pm Friday, July 16, 2021.
“This closure which is approved by the Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel is to allow unfettered access to the contractor to adequately prepare the site for inauguration.
“The general public is advised to take alternative routes and adhere strictly to this notice, as security agencies have been detailed to enforce this order.
“We regret the inconveniences of the closure must have caused and we advise the general public to take alternative routes and adhere strictly to this notice.
“Security agencies have been detailed to enforce this order.”
