The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Bayelsa State, has denied reports that some of its members in Agrisaba, Nembe Local Government Area of the state, have joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The state chairman of the APC, Barrister Dennis Otiotio, while reacting to a Facebook post by the Director of New Media to Governor Douye Diri, on the defection, said those who purportedly joined the PDP were never their members.
“For your information the leader of the so called APC decampees, Ebinabo Jumbo has been a PDP member all his life, he was the legislative aide to Hon. Iniobio Obiene the PDP Assembly member that represented Nembe Constituency 3 from 2011 to 2019. He was appointed PDP unit agent in Mini ward 11 during the 2019 General elections and only approached the ward chairman of Mini ward that he wants to decamp to APC immediately after the APC victory in the last governorship election. However, he jettisoned the idea after PDP’s victory at the Supreme Court”, he said.

But reacting to Otiotio’s comment, the Director of New Media to Governor Diri, Kola Oredipe, said the APC chairman was trying to deny what is glaring for everyone to see.
“Dennis Otiotio, Agrisaba is fully PDP, this your comment is just tale by moonlight. APC degraded and almost non-existent. In few months now, watch out”.
The Deputy Governor of the state, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo had received the defectors on behalf of his boss, Governor Douye Diri, at the Government House in Yenagoa.
The decampees led by Comrade Ebinabo Jumbo, had explained that their decision to leave the APC for the PDP was largely informed by Diri’s disposition towards the unity and development of the state.
Comrade Jumbo had noted that in less than two years in office, the prosperity administration under Governor Diri had shown genuine commitment to good governance through its people-oriented policies, programmes and development projects in an unbiased manner.
