The All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo State chapter has commended the recovery of Old Staff Quarters belonging to Imo Broadcasting Corporation from former governor of the state, Senator Rochas Okorocha.
The quarters situated at Orji, Owerri North LGA was taken over by Senator Okorocha when he served as governor of the state.
He built his Rochas Foundation College on the land but on Tuesday, July 13, the state government sealed the property.
The APC in a statement signed by its Director General, Media Centre, Cajetan Duke expressed delight over the recovery.
The party noted that the said IBC premises officially designated by Imo State Government to house the official quarters of the staff of the corporation was fraudulently converted into personal usage by former governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha in favour of his immediate family and close political associates during his reign in office.
Duke said; “The provocative and reckless conversion of public assets into private use which was the hallmark of the Okorocha’s administration remains one anomaly every right thinking Imolite has remained hopeful that any responsible administration will address with every sense of objectivity.
“Our party is therefore excited and impressed with the undivided dedication and commitment with which His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodimma has continued to carryout the recovery of all looted public assets and properties in spite of all politically sponsored distractions, to the admiration of nde Imo.
“While the party celebrates the governor for his demonstration of courage, capacity and leadership with clarity of vision, Imolites are therefore called upon to remain steadfast in their support and solidarity to the Shared Prosperity administration of Governor Uzodimma in his mission to rehabilitate, reconstruct and recover Imo State for general good.”
