The All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo State, has urged security agencies to unravel and bring to book sponsors and perpetrators of Easter Monday attacks on security formations in the state.
Chairman of the party in the state, Prince Marcellinus Nlemigbo made the call at a press briefing at the party secretariat in Owerri.
Nlemigbo fingered politicians for the attacks and called on relevant security agencies to embark on thorough and painstaking investigation into the attacks with the view to bringing the sponsors and perpetrators to book.
Unknown gunmen in the wee hours of Easter Monday, stormed the correctional centre in Owerri, freed about 2,000 inmates and equally torched Imo police headquarters.
They burnt about 50 vehicles impounded and parked in the premises of the police Headquarters.
Nlemigbo said: “It is unfortunate that some politicians out of their inordinate quest for power decided to compromise the security of our stable and peaceful state by turning it into a theatre of war”.
The chairman added that the nefarious actions are not only abhorrent, incongruous and alien to our peaceful state, Imo, but complete departure from our cherished political culture and shared heritage.
Nlemigbo commended the governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for what he described as his sense of maturity and calm disposition with which he( governor) responded to the situation.
He called on Imolites to stand together against the enemies of the state irrespective of their political affiliation.
