The twins

They were aged 12 years and children of Ejike Njoku and wife, Nkeiru Njoku of Ogbor Oru Ahiara in the same Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of the state.

The fatal crash occurred near the family compound of the deceased.

Our correspondent gathered that the twins were returning from school, Best Brain Academy, Umuagbavu Umuokrika at about 2.00pm when the accident happened.

Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the vehicle hit the twins and they fell on the hard tarred road.

Recounting the ordeal, the father of the twins, Ejike Njoku said neither him nor the wife was at home when the accident occurred.

He said they returned upon receipt of distress calls to behold their twin daughter lifeless at Hope Hospital Afor Oru.

Njoku added that effort to save the son was fruitless as he gave up the ghost on reaching Cecilia Memorial Hospital, Ogbe Ahiara.

The grief-stricken couple however, maintained that they would not question God, who is the giver and taker of life.

According to the couple, they have accepted their fate and handed over the matter to God.

They disclosed that they also prevailed on the irate youths of the community not to attack the driver and his vehicle even as they maintained that they would not collect any monetary compensation from the driver of the vehicle or his relatives.

The remains of the twins were buried in their family compound in the night of the fateful day.
