Tension among residents in Kastina State as 40 Muslims including men, women and children were abducted in Jibiya town in Katsina State, North West of Nigeria.
Although the assailants kidnapped 47 Muslim worshippers, 7 miraculously escaped to a nearby community that offered them refuge before they returned to their community.
It was during the early hours of Monday, May 10th, 2021 at around 2am, unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits struck the Muslim worship centre, and kidnapped 47muslim worshippers who were observing Tahajud, a midnight prayer during Ramadan
The armed men kidnapped the Muslim worshippers to an unknown location, but luckily for about seven of the Muslim kidnapees, they managed to narrowly escape to a neighbouring community, who provided them with refuge and later returned to their community.
A neighbouring commuter has earlier alerted the community concerning the movements of the bandits, and hundreds of residents including the local vigilante were mobilized to track down and lay ambush for the assailants at the eastern entry point through Daddara, Kukar Babangida, and Magama.
However, the Bandits miraculously changed route and entered the community through the western point around Yunusa Dantauri Hospital before attacking the mosque located on the outskirts of the community.
The Commuter also testified that no shots were fired, as the assailant professionally pulled the hit and successfully kidnapped the Muslim worshippers
