The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mike Okoli has condoled with officers and men of the Nigerian Army over the death of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru.
The late army chief died in a plane crash last Friday alongside ten other officers of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force.
They were on their way to Kaduna from Abuja when the unfortunate accident happened, reportedly due to bad weather.
Okoli, who visited the Headquarters of 16 Bridgade, Camp Buratai, Elebele, Yenagoa, described the death of Attahiru and the other officers as sad and unfortunate.
He wished the departed souls eternal rest and prayed for the repose of their souls, while also commiserating with the families of the bereaved and all those they left behind.
The Police Commissioner later signed the condolence register in honor of the late Chief of Army Staff and the other officers.
The Commander 16 Bridgade, Brigadier General OA Awolo, who thanked Okoli and his entourage for the visit, said the death of the COAS and the other officers came as a shock to everyone.
