Teachers in Secondary Schools in Bayelsa State have been charged to rededicate themselves to duty and be at their duty posts at all times or risk facing stern disciplinary actions this year.

Executive Chairman of the Bayelsa State Post Primary Schools Board (PPSB), High Chief Millonaire Asangba, gave the warning
while on his usual unscheduled inspection tour to schools in Yenagoa metropolis.
It was the first of such visit following the official resumption day for public schools in the state, on Tuesday January 4, 2022.
Asangba and his team from the inspectorate department of the PPSB, visited the boys and girls Government Secondary Schools in Agudama; Government Secondary Schools in Akenfa and Igbogene, as well as Government Secondary School Yenegwe, all in Epie Clan of Yenagoa Local Government Area.
While on the unscheduled visit to the schools, the PPSB boss, frowned at truant teachers who were absent or were still enjoying the Yuletide Festivities even after resumption date.
He summoned all absentee teachers to be at the board headquarters to answer their queries or risk further disciplinary actions.
Chief Asangba explained to those present that the board shall not take absenteeism lightly, as the Prosperity Administration of Governor Douye Diri, gives education top priority in governance and as such would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that teachers leave up to expections.
While wishing teachers across the state a happy new year 2022, Chief Asangba was optimistic that with renewed zest, the board is doing all it can to ensure that the governor’s goal of optimal education for public schools in Bayelsa State is achieved.
