Wife of Bayelsa State Governor, Dr. Mrs.Gloria Diri on Wednesday met with the state chapter of the Federated Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN).
The meeting according to the media aide to Mrs. Diri, Maria Olodi-Osumah was to reinforce the hospitable disposition of the government and people of Bayelsa State with other ethnic groups in Nigeria.
At an interactive session with the Muslim women in Yenagoa, the governor’s wife noted that love, peace and unity are veritable tools for the socio-economic and political development of any nation.
According to her, inter religious conflicts arises when religious intolerance, ethnicity and nepotism override the common good and cordial relationship of people.
She maintained that God is Love, and that the Holy Bible and the Koran admonishes its faithful to emulate and replicate the love of God by living at peace with everyone.
Mrs Diri emphasized that the Prosperity Government led by her husband, Senator Douye Diri is poised to sustaining the already existing peace in the State.
The First Lady who promised to work with FOMWAN appreciated them for their prayers for the state and also urged the women to continue to preach the massage of peace and unity.
Earlier in her remarks, Chairperson of FOMWAN in the state, Hajia Mariam Abeki, described the meeting as first of its kind in the state and an impression of good things to come.
Hajia Abeki said inline with the mandate of FOMWAN and in fulfilment of their religious obligations, they will use the period of Ramadan Fast to pray for the nation, Bayelsa State and touch lives of the less privileged in the society.
She expressed gratitude to the Wife of the Governor for the meeting and pledged the support and willingness of FOMWAN to ensure a more peaceful Bayelsa.
