The Bayelsa State Government has commended the chiefs and people of Opu-Nembe in Nembe Local Government Area for the peaceful and democratic manner in which they elected their new traditional ruler (Amayanabo).
The State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrujakpor, gave the commendation in a congratulatory message to the Amayanabo-elect, King Biobelemoye Josiah (Obodo VIII).
In a statement by his Media Assistant, Mr. Doubra Atasi, the Deputy Governor described the cooperation and tranquility which characterised the election as an harbinger of better things in the kingdom.
He urged the people to maintain the prevailing peaceful disposition while giving the traditional institution and state government the needed cooperation to keep the area secure and stable for sustainable development to thrive.
The Deputy Governor described the newly-elected Amayanabo as a personal friend, a thorough bred professional and selfless crusader of workers rights.
He expressed optimism that his reign will bring greater prosperity to the kingdom, saying he has proven himself over the years, championing the welfare of workers especially in the health sector.
While congratulating the Amanayabo, who is also the National President of the Medical and Healhj Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), he prayed God to bless him with good health, long life and more wisdom to pilot the affairs of the kingdom.
