The Bayelsa State Government has restated that the official resumption date for public and private secondary, as well as primary schools in the state is on Monday 3rd January, 2022.

The government said it has not changed the date which will be the commencement of second term academic activities for the 2021/2022 academic session.

Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Education, Mr. Christopher Ehwrujakpo said the clarification became necessary in order to correct the rumours making the round with other dates for resumption.

He said by the academic calendar, 3rd of January was slated for resumption but due to the Federal Government’s public holiday on the same day the next day after the public holiday automatically stands in for resumption of all schools.

He, therefore, called on all school heads to resume academic activities for second term on the 4th of January immediately after the federal government public holiday.

“All stakeholders in the education sector are also charged to remain vigilant and ensure strict adherence to all school safety regulations in the face of the Covid-19 and its variants as we look forward to a successful and productive New Year”, the Permanent Secretary added.
