The Bayelsa State Government has raised the alarm over the increasing number of corpses of babies at different dumping sites in the state capital, Yenagoa.

The statement said the uncultured act if not stopped can cause odour nuisance, environmental contamination, as well as a major pandemic.

It warned those involved in the unwholesome act to desist immediately as anyone caught would be decisively dealt with by the government.

“It has come to the knowledge of the Bayelsa State Ministry of Environment, that some unknown persons have been dumping corpses of babies at various refuse dumps around Yenagoa Metropolis.
The Ministry has so far noted three cases in less than two months.

“This uncultured act can cause odour nuisance, bring about environmental contamination as well as a pandemic if not stopped.

“By this announcement therefore, the general public is warned to desist from the act forthwith, as anyone caught henceforth would be dealt with decisively by the Bayelsa State Government”.
