The lawmaker representing Kolokuma/Opokuna Constituency II in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Wisdom Fafi, has surprised some of his constituents with cars, motor bikes and cash gifts as part of events to mark his birthday anniversary.
The gift items were also to appreciate and support the youths, women and girls for standing by him before and throughout the period he has been representing them.
The vehicles include a Lexus RX300 and a Toyota Corolla LE saloon cars, was presented on behalf of the lawmaker by his colleague from Southern Ijaw Constituency lV, Hon. Macdonald Igbadiwei, who charged the beneficiaries to make good use of it to positively influence their economic well-being.
Also speaking, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South-south Legal Adviser, Hon. (Barr) George Alabh Turnah (MON), lauded Hon. Fafi for the gesture and described him as “a performer, good product and a humble servant”, who understands his root, purpose and what it means to represent the people”.
He added that he is happy to share in the unique event, noting that the party was proud of the legislator and also tasked the beneficiaries to judiciously make use of the “Empowerment Items”.
Turnah, used the opportunity to plead with the people of the area to register for the PDP at the ongoing E-registration exercise, at the state Party Secretariat in Yenagoa.
On his part, Fafi, said the empowerment was in fulfilment of his electoral promise to make impact in the lives of members of his constituency, despite being a first timer in the House of Assembly.
He also stated that it was not the first time he will be supporting his people and it will also not be the last time, adding that he has a burning desire to lift people out of poverty and make them self sufficient.
“The gesture was designed to empower my constituents, instead of throwing a lavish party in celebration of my birthday”, he said.
He added that he was committed to making his people feel happy, as leadership was about making positive impact on the lives of the people, saying the programme was a way of him giving back to his constituents.
He said: “What I am doing today is what I have always done in the last 9-years to make the people of this constituency happy, irrespective of political affiliation, even before I was elected as a lawmaker. So, I am happy seeing how happy the beneficiaries are feeling the impact of democracy under my watch”.
The lawmaker appealed to those who missed out in the programme to exercise patience as they will benefit from subsequent ones and enjoined them to continue to support and pray for the Senator Douye Diri-⁰led prosperity government in the state.
One of the beneficiaries of the scheme, Ebiegberi Donkemezuo, thanked the lawmaker for his good deeds, saying he had demonstrated true leadership with his kind gesture.
“I thank him for this demonstration of service to the people and I pray God should continue to guide him to do more,” he said.
Others who spoke, described the representation of Fafi, as one of the best thing that has happened to the area since the inception of democracy and urged him to continue with the good works.
Dignitaries who were present at the event include; Special Adviser to the Governor on Poverty Alleviation, Barr. Eunice Titus Akene; Commissioner, Local Government Service Commission, Hon.
