Bayelsa State Government has assured athletes that it would prioritise their welfare for effective performance in competitions.
The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Baraladei Igali gave the assurance during an interactive session with journalists in his office in Yenagoa.
The Commissioner, who noted that motivation is a huge morale booster to sportsmen and women, said the government would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the athletes are always happy, which in turn would ginger optimal performance.
Igali, who used the opportunity to commend Bayelsa United for their 4-0 thumping of Remo Stars at the Samson Siasia Stadium, assured the team of the state government’s support in boosting their quest to gain promotion to the elite Professional Football League.
Perhaps, as a demonstration of what lies ahead, the commissioner redeemed his promise of a hundred thousand Naira to Bayelsa United for the home win and N10,000 for each of the four goals scored.
