- State government to train over 5,000 youths
- Government to encourage youths to go to school
In its quest to meaningfully engage the youths of the state, the Bayelsa State Government is set to train over 5,000 youths in special programmes this year.

Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Daniel Igali, disclosed this when he appeared on a Rhythm 94.7 F.M. news and current affairs programme, ”Viewpoint”, over the weekend.
The training programme is ostensibly intended to engage youths of the state and get them off the streets.
The commissioner also reiterated the present administration’s drive to curb cultism, kidnapping and other social vices by encouraging youths to take advantage of the state government’s higher students loan scheme to further their education.
The plans to send the youths on training and the students’ loans scheme arrangement may not be unconnected with the escalating cases of criminality across the state.
