Operatives of the Bayelsa State Volunteer Security Outfit stationed in Etegwe/Tombia have effected the arrest of two notorious criminals.
The suspected criminals forcefully collected a young girl’s IPhone XR and ATM card with the sum of N12,800 cash withdrawn from her account.
According to a confessional statement made available to newsmen by the alleged culprits, they confessed to have hypnotized the girl, identified as Miss Mimi from Foropa Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.
Mimi said on Sunday, February 20, 2022, she was walking along the Etegwe axis and her attention was drawn by the 48-year-old fraudster identified as Matthew from Amassoma, who asked her for help and also to help her magically double her money.
She stated that to make the fake story so real, his partner Ebieyi Abraham from Akassa in Brass Local Government Area, appeared so innocent and tried to convince the innocent Mimi to believe the act.
As at the time of the arrest, the iPhone had been sent to Lagos for sale but with the swift intervention of the security team, the phone was returned to Yenagoa on Wednesday in good condition.
The ATM card was also recovered during investigation.
The culprits have since been handed over to men of the SWAT, Nigeria Police Force, for further investigation and prosecution.
