Bayelsans have taken to social media to praise its representatives at the National Assembly for working together despite their political party affiliations.
The reactions came after a group photograph of members of the House of Representatives from the state surfaced online after the sitting of the House on Tuesday.
The photograph had, the lawmaker representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma, Prof. Steve Azaiki, that of Nembe/Brass, Hon. Isreal Sunny-Goli, Southern Ijaw, Hon. Preye Oseke and Sagbama/Ekeremor, Hon. Fred Agbedi.
Only the lawmaker representing Ogbia Federal Constituency, Hon. Fred Obuah was not in the picture as he was said to be in Bayelsa preparing for his father’s burial coming up next week.
Azaiki and Agbedi are of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Sunny-Goli and Oseke belongs to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
While commenting on the picture, some Bayelsans charged the lawmakers to continue in that spirit for the sake of the people and for the interest of the state.
Others who equally expressed excitement about the existing camaraderie among them, urged them to advise their supporters to emulate same.
Also, some others said the unity and love between them should continue even during elections, as politics is only but a game and will always come and go but Bayelsa remains their state to love and protect.
In reaction to one of the comments on Facebook, the lawmaker representing Nembe/Brass Federal Constituency, Hon. Sunny-Goli said “We’re all working for Bayelsa state”.
The relationship between senior members of the two main political parties led by Governor Douye Diri of the PDP and Chief Timipre Sylva of the APC has been very cordial in the last one year, and has in turn attracted some federal projects to the state.
