Adamawa was originally a tributary kingdom within the Sultanate of Sokoto, and is now located in the country’s northeast. Home state to two Housemates, Jackie B and Saskay.
As a southern state, Akwa Ibom benefits from much of Nigeria’s offshore oil wealth, but it is also heavily agricultural, with residents growing yams, rice, cowpeas, and maize for subsistence and oil palm and cocoa as cash crops. Angel and Emmanuel, who are housemates, are both from Akwa Ibom, Nigeria.
This state is renowned as the “Light of the Nation” since it was named after the Anam clan. Cross River State
Tega and Jaypaul are both from Cross River region. The state, which is on Nigeria’s border with Cameroon, has a sizable French-speaking population. Many events are held in the state, including Africa’s largest carnival. The Ikom monoliths, cut from volcanic stone, are of considerable significance to archaeologists and anthropologists.
Edo, another southern state, is home to two Housemates this year, Nini and Liquorose. Edo is the heart of Nigeria’s rubber industry, having been formed when Bendel State was divided into Edo and Delta states.
Ekiti, like the rest of the states on this list, only sent one Housemate to Big Brother this season, Arin. Ekiti, which was formed in 1996 from the area of Ondo State, was named for its harsh, hilly topography and undulating terrain “Ekiti” means “mound.” Aside from these rocky outcroppings, the state also has tropical woods.
Enugu is the home state of Whitemoney and is home to coal, one of the major grain markets east of the Niger, the country’s first indigenous institution, and the country’s first indigenous university.
Boma, Beatrice, and Peace are all from Rivers State, which has contributed the most Housemates to this season. Rivers has a large crude oil and natural gas deposit, can refine over 340 000 barrels per day, and Port Harcourt, the capital, is considered the heart of Nigeria’s oil sector.
