Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, one of the counsels of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has condemned the gruesome torture and subsequent beheading of Mr Okechukwu Okoye, who is a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, by unidentified gunmen.
While lamenting the “blood sucking demons that have taken over the South East”, Ejiofor emphasized that his indefatigable client, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, would not condone such acts in the south east, and infact that Kanu would be gravely shocked to learn of such dastardly killings in the south east.
In his words, “my indefatigable client – Nnamdi Kanu, will be gravely shocked and saddened by this dastardly act too, having previously and severally mandated me in the past to condemn such barbaric act on his behalf”.
He stated that those behind such killings in the south east were out to demonize the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, noting that the prevailing insecurity in the South East region has taken an entirely troubling dimension and, therefore, cannot be allowed to continue.
According to him, these persons that kidnap for ransom have no connection whatsoever with IPOB freedom fighting movement, but are impostors and hirelings whose singular objective is to kill and destroy.
The Nigerian Army, on its part, had accused the Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed unit, the Eastern Security Network, ESN, of being responsible for the killing. But the IPOB has swiftly distanced the Eastern Security Network from the killing.
