About seven persons have reportedly died in a boat mishap in Ogboinbiri, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The incident was said to have happened when two speed boats collided. Local divers could only rescue one of the passengers.
Among the victims was a pastor of a church in the community.
It was gathered that the boat conveying the deceased persons was heading to Amassoma also in Southern Ijaw while the other one was conveying a sick middle aged lady to Yenagoa for emergency treatment.
The sick lady, according to a community source, was admitted at the Cottage Hospital in Ogbibiri but the hospital lack oxygen which was needed to bring out the lady from her coma state.
The source said “it was recommended that she be taken to Federal Medical Center in Yenagoa for Oxygen. That was where they were heading before the accident happened.
“The Pastor was going with them as he was engaged in serious prayers for the sick lady and the relative”.
