Brand Influencer, Chidi Okereke, has narrated how Tems was rejected by a record label in 2018.
In a screenshot shared on his Instagram page, the brand-influencer said that it is heartwarming to know that the Tems is now a household name and rolling with big stars in the entertainment industry.
He disclosed that Tems once sent him a song to help her promote, adding that he forwarded it to his friend on a record label.
Unfortunately, the manager rejected it because he claimed the Tems genre sounded too RnB which is hard to sell in Nigeria.
According to Okereke, it is impressive to note that Terms has gone international and has been spotted with the likes of Wizkid, Drake and Rihanna because of the same genre which was rejected three years ago.
Recall that the American singer Rihanna could not contain her excitement when she met with Nigerian singer Tems for the first time.
The two music artists met at an event promoting Rihanna’s latest Savage X Fenty collection and was seen in videos posted on Tems’s Instagram story hugging, as Rihanna screamed “oh my God” in excitement. The sensational musicians kept hugging and chatting away.
While encouraging young artists not to give on their dreams, Okereke shared a reminder that if they believe strongly in themselves, the world will appreciate their gift.
