A former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has been declared winner of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential primary election.

In a speech by the Chairman of the PDP Electoral Committee, Senator David Mark, Abubakar Atiku scored 371 votes to become the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which is the major opposition party in the country.
Senator Mark further announced that they had a total of 763 accredited votes and 12 were voided votes.

Atiku Abubakar is closely followed by Nyesom Wike with 237 votes.
