Former President, Nigeria Football Federation,(NFF) Brigadier General Dominic Oneya (retd.), is dead.
Family sources said he died on Thursday morning in his home at Effurun in the Uvwie local government area of Delta State. Current NFF president Amaju Pinnick also confirmed Oneya’s death.
Dominic Oneya was born on May 26, 1948; he is from the Agbarho Kingdom in Ughelli, Delta State.
Oneya was the president of the Nigeria Football (NFF) Federation from 1999 to 2002.
Oneya served in various capacities in CAF committees and recently headed the Ministerial Committee on Reforms in Nigerian Football.
Oneya, who died at 73, was military administrator of Kano State between 1996 to 1998; and between 1998 and 1999, the late army general was the military governor of Benue State during the reign of Abdulsalami Abubakar.
He retired from Military service with the rank of Brigadier General.
