President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Senator Margret Chuba Okadigbo to the position of chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, succeeding Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, who was previously appointed to the position last year.

President Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, said in a statement yesterday that the of the NNPC Limited’s Board and Management, which take effect from the date of the NNPC Limited’s incorporation, was by the power vested in President Buhari under Section 59(2) of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021.
The board’s full composition is as follows: Senator Okadigbo (South East) serves as Chairman of the Board, with Mele Kolo Kyari as Chief Executive Officer and Umar I. Ajiya as Chief Financial Officer.
Dr Tajudeen Umar (North East), Mrs Lami O. Ahmed (North Central), Mallam Mohammed Lawal (North West), Engr. Henry Obih (South East), Barrister Constance Harry Marshal (South-South), and Chief Pius Akinyelure are the other Board Members (South West).
Recall that, President Buhari appointed Senator Ifeanyi Ararume as chairman of the board last year, but the board was never inaugurated.

Executive commissioners of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission have also been appointed. Dr Nuhu Habib (Kano) is the executive commissioner for Development and Production; Dr Kelechi Onyekachi Ofoegbu (Imo) is the executive commissioner for Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; Capt.
Tonight Roland John (Delta) is the executive commissioner for Health, Safety, Environment, and Community; and Jide Adeola (Kogi) is the executive commissioner for Corporate Services and Administration.
The Board Chairman, CEO, Executive Commissioner, Exploration and Acreage Management, and Executive Commissioner, Finance and Accounts were previously appointed.
Francis Alabo Ogaree (Rivers), Executive Director, Hydrocarbon Processing, has been appointed to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority. Mustapha Lamorde (Adamawa) is the Executive Director for Health, Safety, Environment, and Community; Mansur Kuliya (Kano) is the Executive Director for Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund; Bashir Sadiq (Sokoto) is the Executive Director for Corporate Services and Administration; Dr Zainab Gobir (Kwara) is the Executive Director for Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning.

They join the previously appointed Board Chairman, Executive Director, Downstream Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure, CEO, and Executive Director, Finance and Accounts.
New Council Members for the Midstream and Downstream Infrastructure Fund include Mr Effiong Abia (Akwa Ibom), Bobboi Ahmed (Adamawa), and Engr. Abdullahi Bukar (Katsina).
Remember that President Buhari wrote the Senate in September about administrative structure amendments to the Petroleum Industry Act, which included the appointment of Non-Executive Board Members, the removal of the Ministries of Petroleum and Finance from the Boards of the two new institutions, and the appointment of executive directors.
