President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the son of Abia State Governor, Engr Jachimike Okezie Ikpeazu, as he ties his nuptial knot with his heart-throb, former Miss Chidinma.
Represented by the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah, President Buhari noted that successful marriages hinge family values and character, adding that when family values are properly enshrined, there would be stability in other activities in the society including peaceful coexistence.
Also speaking, the wife of the President Aisha Buhari, represented by the wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs Rachael Umahi said the event was a reminder that marriage is a union which ought to be celebrated.
She congratulated the newly wedded couple on their union and assured them that marriage is blissful and an avenue to express love.
In his speech, the father of the groom, and Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu said he was overwhelmed by the presence of dignitaries and thanked all who came to celebrate with the family.
He reminded the new couple that the presence of numerous witnesses should inspire them to make a success of their marriage.
The Chairman on the occasion and Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, while blessing the couple, said they will achieve whatever their parents failed to achieve.
Earlier in a sermon, the President, Eastern Union Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Pastor Bassey Udoh, emphasised on the need for married couples to stick to one another, adding that character and integrity are among the foundation of a successful marriage.
Pastor Udoh, who took his text from Ruth 1:16-17, shared practical ways to show love as exemplified by the biblical Ruth, who showed genuine love to her matrimonial home and urged the couple to show love to each other by adjusting to accommodate one another.
He noted that most marriages have failed because of comparison and advised the newly wedded couple not to compare their spouses with others and prayed God to bless them and grant them fruitfulness and peace.
In a vote of thanks, the groom, Mr Jachimike Victor Ikpeazu thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and other dignitaries who made the event a huge success and promised to make the union an exemplary one worthy of emulation.
Highpoints of the ceremony include the signing of the marriage register by the bride and groom as well as parents of the bride and groom.
Present at the occasion were political elites, past and present governors in Nigeria, celebrities, and avalanche of who is who in Nigerian politics
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, his wife, Governors of Delta, Bayelsa, Enugu, Ebonyi, Bauchi, Edo, Sokoto, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states alongside their wives graced the event.
Others include, former Senate President, Anyim Pious Anyim, immediate past Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia Central, Sen. T. A Orji and wife, Odochi Orji, former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, National Assembly members, members of the Abia State Executive Council, Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Chinedum Orji and members of the state House of Assembly, The Chief judge and members of the judiciary, top government officials, captains of industries, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), traditional rulers, and clergymen.
