The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Imo State has described the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari as mockery of the citizens of the state.
The party regretted that instead of the people of the state being elated about the presidential visit, they are rather wondering what the president visited to do in the state.
According to the PDP, the people were feeling low and despondent owing to the security breaches that enveloped the state recently.
It blamed the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for exacerbating the moment of madness through his unguarded utterances.
The opposition party also blamed the president for compounding the situation through his ‘unstatesmanly remark of threatening war and brimstone over separatist agitations’.
It stated that the unfortunate outcome of all the missteps was the extra-judicial killings that took place in the state in the name of seeking out and fighting separatists.
According to the PDP, Imo under Governor Hope Uzodimma has become a police state in which basic freedoms of the people have been curtailed wholemeal an army of occupation reigns and rules in the land.
It also accused Gov. Uzodimma of running a government from exile, describing him as an absentee governor who visits the state whenever he deems fit.
The party asserted that Gov. Uzodimma has done very little to improve the infrastructural status of the state as he was yet to provide any projects in any sector of the economy.
According to the PDP, the bad governance being witnessed under Uzodimma’s watch has eroded the little economy the state had before his advent.
The party noted that the absence of a government in Imo State was behind the arbitrary hikes in pump prices of petroleum products by marketers in the state.
While describing the situation in the state as appalling and tear-jerking, the PDP regretted that its interventions are neglected.
