Nigerian singer and Grammy award winner Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy is currently on the verge of getting another award as his ‘Twice as Tall’ album is being nominated for the International Male Solo artiste Category in the 2021 BRIT Awards.
Recall that recently he won a Grammy award and is now vying for an award in the British phonographic Industry. He was nominated for the category International Male Solo artiste alongside big international acts like Bruce Springsteen, Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, and The weekend were also nominated for this year’s International Male Solo artiste.
Announcing the nomination through their Instagram handle, The BRITS wrote;
“The nominees for #Brits 2021 International Male Solo artist are @Springteen, @Childishgambino, @tamieimpala and @theweekend”
The Award will be held on the May 11, 2021 and will be hosted by Nick Grimshaw and co hosted by Griff.
Earlier on Burna Boy lost out on the 40th edition of the BRIT awards 2020 in the Best International Act category to American rapper, Tyler The Creator.
The 2020 BRIT Awards was held on 18 February 2020 at the O2 Arena in London. On 27 November 2019, Jack Whitehall was announced as the host for the third year running.
Nominations were led by British rapper of Nigerian descent, Dave, and singer, Lewis Capaldi.
As with previous years, the entire two-hour show was broadcast live on British TV and streamed globally on YouTube.
