Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage, has been making the rounds on social media since her controversial tape suddenly surfaced online.
The Popstar, who earlier revealed that she was being blackmailed over a sex tape of herself and her partner, shared how it could have been leaked. She stated that the video was accidentally posted on Snapchat by her lover who deleted it after he realized his error but it had already been downloaded by a “stalker”.
The singer hinted that the blackmailer sent the sex video of herself and her current date to her team demanding money.
Popular online Doctor has taken to his Twitter handle @DrOlufunmilayo to posit that the leaking of the sex tape was no mistake. He opines that the man who recorded it knew exactly what he was doing and exactly why he leaked it.
“Let’s not be fooled:
That sex tape leaking was NO mistake.
And no, I’m NOT saying Tiwa (or the woman) leaked it herself.
Conveniently, the man’s face is not showing. But the woman’s face shows.
That man who recorded it knew exactly what he was doing and exactly why he leaked it”.
In an interview with American OAP, Angie Martinez of Power 105.1, the singer absolved her lover and other people close to her of deliberately leaking the video.
She said, “I am not going to call it a sex tape but it’s a tape between me and the person I am dating right now…It is not from someone working closely with me. What happened is that the person did it on Snap and he posted it by accident, but he quickly deleted it”.
“However, someone got it before he could delete it. It is a very short video, but it is me. It is going to be out there and I can just imagine the memes. I just found out yesterday.”
Kemi Filani a popular blogger is of the opinion that there was no sex tape anywhere; and that it was all of a publicity stunt. According to the blogger, Tiwa Savage’s influence and spot as the number one African Female musician is slowly dropping, ever since she left Mavin’s records.
It is not confirmed yet if the woman in the viral video is Tiwa Savage but there is a striking resemblance.
@DemoOfUK on Twitter opines in a tweet:
“The hairline, long hair, the nail polish, forehead, Nose and lips in that video? I think it’s Tiwa Savage. Plus in the interview, she said it’s a very short video. Which makes it all make sense now. But what do I know.”
Tiwa took to her IG story to call out the controversial blogger, Gistlover. According to Tiwa, Gistlover isn’t happy with the way she handled her sex tape scandal.
She indicates that Gistlover wanted to disgrace, destroy and shame her on social media by threatening to reveal her sex tape gist before she did. Tiwa said that Gistlover didn’t like the outcome and went on her page to spread more lies about her.
Tiwa Savage also revealed that Gistlover threatened to beat her wherever they come in contact. Reacting to the threat, Tiwa wrote: “You must knock my head when you see me otherwise”.
Meanwhile, Instagram has deleted Gistlover’s account; however that hasn’t stopped, the spread of the video, which has now gone viral.
Will this make her more popular? Maybe!
“There is no such thing as bad publicity”; is a very popular catchphrase in the media world.
Can this translate to more music downloads, streams, airplay and shows? Just maybe!
Tiwa Savage has described her latest body of work as her most spiritual journey through music so far.
The 5 songs 19 minutes, EP features Grammy Award singing sensation Brandy, Legendary rapper Nas, songwriter and producer Rich King, Nigerian singer-songwriter Tay Iwar, and Ghanaian-American artist AMARAAE.
What are the numbers?
Tiwa Savage currently tops Twitter trends after the release of the video, but with 2.6 million views on the audio on her official YouTube page and number 20 on the top 100 Nigerian songs on Apple music; “Somebody’s Son”, Tiwa’s fourth song from her “Water and Garri” EP may not be doing badly after all. However, are the numbers good enough for Nigeria’s acclaimed No 1 female musician?
One thing is sure, everyone will be talking about Tiwa Savage for some time and just maybe Tiwa can be salvaged.
