A Chidinma Ojukwu, the 21-year-old student who confessed to killing the late Super TV CEO, Usifo Ataga a few weeks ago has denied killing him in a recent interview with crime fighters.
Recall that Chidinma while being interrogated by the Lagos police command and the media last month claimed that she killed the late Usifo. In her words, she stabbed him “twice on the neck side”.
The 21-year-old student had alleged that the late Usifo had forcefully had his way with her sexually the first time but a dispute ensued after he attempted to have sex with her again.
She said.“I threw the knife to the bed and he was going for it but I also went for it. He dragged the knife with me and it broke and he fell on the floor,’’
‘’At some point, he was chasing me around the kitchen cabinet. I took a knife and stabbed his neck. I approached the door and he followed me. I stabbed him twice on the neck side.”
However, in a recent interview with “CrimeFighters”, a television programme on crime and security, Chidinma who is the actual suspect in the killing of Usifo said she admitted to killing Ataga at the time due to pressure and the fact that nobody believed her.
The alleged suspect also added that she had met the deceased in a pool of his blood when she returned from where she had gone to get food and drugs for the two of them.
Chidinma noted that the fear of being arrested by the police informed her decision not to report the matter before she left the apartment for her house.
‘’I didn’t involve anybody. I don’t know who must have come into the apartment. Somebody did that but I don’t know who that person is. I don’t know what happened when I left the room to buy food. Because of what I did after by not alerting the police and also withdrawing money from his account, I feel guilty for what happened but I did not kill him,” she said.
“I believe someone knew where we were and waited till I left before they entered. Due to pressure and insistence of the security operatives that nobody entered the room apart from the two, I resolved that since no one believed me, let me just take the blame.”
Chidinma explained that she has not been in communication with any of her family members since her arrest and that nobody was influencing her claim. “No one is influencing my statements. I have not spoken to anyone since my arrest, not even my relation or anybody close to me,” she added.
Chidinma Adaora Ojukwu also claimed that her choice to withdraw money from late Usifo’s account after his death was because the deceased had promised her the amount before the unfortunate incident.
“I just withdrew the money because he had already promised me, it’s not like I had anything to do with his death. I don’t have anything to do with his death,” she added.
When, the Lagos police commissioner Hakeem Odumosu, was contacted on the recent development, he said ‘’That is the trait of an avid criminal and also called it an ‘’afterthought’’
The commissioner said the Lagos State Command will leave no stone unturned to bring to book the actual circumstances that led to the death of the super TV CEO and those behind his murder
