Christian leaders in Bayelsa State have lauded former governor, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson for his many contributions to the body of Christ in the state.
According to them, during his eight years tenure, Dickson showed support to the church in different ways and constantly dedicate the state to God Almighty, which accounted for the enthronement of sustained peace across the state.
They stated this on Monday when they paid a “thank you” visit to the lawmaker in his country home of Toru-Orua, Sagbama Local Government Area.
The Christian leaders under the aegis of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), recalled that it was Dickson who initiated the monthly praise night and the annual thanksgiving of the state which holds on November 2nd, every year with a law to back it up.
They also recalled with nostalgia the daily morning devotions in his official residence and the building of the magnificent Bayelsa State Ecumenical Center, as some of the things he did to appreciate God.
Leader of the delegation, Arch. Bishop Jacob Akpiri in his remarks thanked Dickson for the opportunities he gave them to serve in different capacities during his administration.
He also commended the Bayelsa West Senator for the cordial relationship he had maintained with CAN over the years, dating back to when he was a member of the House of Representatives.
On his part, Senator Dickson thanked them for their dedication, steadfastness and the manner in which they render their selfless service to the state and humanity.
He expressed his gratitude to them for constantly holding morning devotions with him through out the eight years he served as governor of the state, and promised to inform them formally about his thanksgiving service that would come up on a later date.
