As you travel back home during the Christmas holiday please, try to engage your kinsmen on the need to have their Permanent Voters Card. Explain to them that, the people get the government they deserve. Make them understand that God answers prayers, that it is even faster when we play our part as citizens by getting involved in the governance of our state.
When you get home for Christmas, if you know or have heard anyone who wants to run for public office who happens to be your kinsman, engage him on his vision and how intends to achieve it. Analyse his person to see if he is the right person for the job. Make him understand that Abia State has been on the media for the wrong reasons. Make him understand that the state has become an object of mockery by every dick, tom and Harry hence the need to engage him on his vision.
When you get home, talk to your fellow youth who are often the instruments used by the elite to achieve their selfish desires. Tell the story of China also tell the story of Akwa Ibom. Tell them the story of Rwanda and also tell the story of Ebonyi. Tell them the story of Dubai and also tell them the Anambra story. Make them realize that our state can be one to be reckoned with if only we come together and say enough of the greed and wickedness in the land. Make them understand that complaining and shouting on social media isn’t enough, participating in the process is imperative!
When you are home, please, identify your wards. Understand that we as a people are in a state of coma and the only way we can come out of it is when we engage the services of the best medical doctors. Make them understand that political office is not a father Christmas gift or an office to pay back for loyalty. Make them understand it is a call for service and not a call to suffering people.
While at home, as you buy palm wine or your VSOP in these hard times, make Umunna understand that no matter how successful you are outside, home is still home because you can never be welcomed outside the way if you had been home. Make your kinsmen understand you have tried to establish businesses in your state but because one man claims to own the whole lands in the whole of your state, it has been impossible for you to build businesses that can employ your siblings. Tell your kinsmen all these and see if they would understand you. Do not easily give up on them, they may find it difficult to believe you because you aren’t giving them money but make them understand you will give them more than the stipend they ask for if the environment was good for investors to come in.
When you get home for Christmas, please, join your kinsmen to pray for Abia State and the leadership for them to do what is right and complete all projects before they leave office. More importantly, tell them to get their PVC which they can get from the comfort of the beer parlour. Make them understand that votes do count if only the people want it to count. Let them ask those who want to run for elections why they want to run and how they intend to achieve it. What is their CV?
May you all be safe, take your vaccines and wear a mask as much as you can. For all those who can’t travel because times are hard, use your social media handles to preach the gospel of good governance in a very constructive way hoping that it will end in praise. It is the little efforts we put in here and there that yields results.
God bless you!
